- District 45 has not experienced more economic growth because of a lack of representation.
- A typical family of four (two working adults, two children) needs to work nearly two full-time minimum wage jobs each (a 77-hour work week per working adult) to earn a living wage. Minimum wage needs to be increased. Especially for waitresses and waiters in the food industry.
- District 45 has been denied the right to request a payment plan for utilities bills or property taxes or the right to choose between internet providers because the current representation has not advocated for these changes.
- District 45 does not have enough affordable housing, transportation services or a developed infrastructure to promote growth because the current representation hasn't made these issues a priority.
- District 45 School District is focused on a school bond that is directing most of the money out of District 45 and ignoring the needs of the district while our teachers are not adequately compensated, have to work during their planning period and not given incentives.
- District 45 School District is not providing adequate services or resources to children with IEPs while they're receiving extra government money to provide extra services.
- South Carolina is allowing children from public schools coming from high income households to use public monies to pay for private school. While children from low income families are unable to afford college.
- South Carolina eviction laws are outdated and doesn't protect families from homelessness.
- District 45 current representation has voted to not continue expanding the summer SNAP program causing many children to go hungry over the summer.
- South Carolina voted against Women Reproductive Rights and doesn't believe women have the right to choose. This need to change.
- Law enforcement doesn't have enough resources to respond to the increase in gang violence.
- 79% of Domestic Violence fatalities are due to killings by guns and the new gun laws doesn't do enough to protect victims of domestic violence or to protect innocent citizens from mass shootings.
- Mental Health Services across South Carolina are not adequate and our veterans aren't receiving the mental health treatment they're entitled to.
- Medication costs in the United States is higher than many countries. The government needs to put a limit on costs.
- Medicare expansion has not been a consideration to allow seniors to use their unused nursing home benefit for home care.
- Medicaid expansion is being denied by current representation.
Where is District 45's representation? What has District 45's current representation done to improve our communities? District 45 being left behind and lacking services and resources should no longer be an option. Growing and stabilizing our District economically should be the priority. So, I'm asking for the honor of becoming your SC House Representative. I want to ensure that District 45 is no longer left behind, is economically strong, and have access to needed resources. I want to work with you, for you, and beside you to give the voice back to the people by becoming your SC House Representative.
